Another Christmas...Happy New Year!

Hey! Hope that your holidays have been wonderful! We spent four days at Mom and Dad's for Christmas and then went to Sid's sister's house for a visit with their family and also spent some time with his parents Bob and JoAnn. From there were in Ft. Worth for four days for the Whataburger basketball tournament. We met Bill and Shawna and family, Bob and Jo and Becky's family on the first day of the tournament and had Christmas with them. What fun.
We are now home and boy is it nice to be here. There is just something about sleeping in your own bed. I like it. I love to travel but, home is awfully nice too.

Wes and I are taking off in a few days with the folks to go and see Colt play in the Fiesta Bowl. Should be a good time. Appreciate your prayers for safe travel. Sid and Will are hanging around here for basketball , work and oh...school. Yes, Wes will have some catching up to do.
I am going to finish taking down the Christmas decorations here in the house today, hopefully. I used to be so sad when I had to take it all down but now it almost feels like I am spring cleaning or something to get it all down and the house cleaned up. Weird. We had Bill and Shawna here the past few days for a visit. Such a sweet family. The cutest kiddos. Enjoyed the visit with them.

We had a nice visit w/ your parents last Saturday. We got to enjoy that little puppy that your dad calls "dog", that is too funny! I too love the fire and your mother's Christmas tree, not to mention the view from those big windows!

So easy it's embarrassing! Here it is: One box of Betty Crocker Red Velvet Cake mix. 1 semi sweet choc. chips 1 small Half and Half- (use half a cup) 1small carton of whipping cream 1 package of cream cheese Half cup sugar Bake cake (follow box directions), let cool and crumble. Stir together cream cheese, sugar and whipping cream with blender until smooth. Melt chocolate chips in bowl and then add half and half. Stir until smooth. Layer in trifle dish. Mom's Apricot Cobbler...

It is melt in your mouth good! Ok, I know that yesterday I wrote about not eating any more sugar and I'm not. This is for YOU. I just had to give you Mom's recipe. It is so easy and so incredibly yummy. Hope that you enjoy it. It smells heavenly while cooking too. Easy Apricot Cobbler Jan McCoy 1 cup flour 1 cup sugar 2 Tbs. Baking Powder (Mix well in mixing bowl) Add 1 cup Milk and about a third cup of oil Mix well. Pour in oblong Pyrex cake pan. Heat at least 1 quart of sweetened fruit (apricots) to boiling. Pour on top of the batter. Add dollop (don't you love the word dollop?) of butter and sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes until brown. Enjoy. Camp Blue Haven-2012

Mountains green, sparkling streams, every morning you greet me. Pine trees tall, waterfalls, blue skies canopied o'er me. May I know as I live and grow, God forsakes me never. May His love from above bless Blue Haven forever.  And what a blessing it was this summer to be back up in the cool mountains with so many people that we love.  As I reflected on this special place I thought about how big of an influence it has been on our children and our hearts.  At camp time slows down. There are so few distractions. The focus is on fellowship, enjoying God's creation and growing in knowledge of Him.  It has been a place to teach us what our life in this world should be about. It has also been a glimpse of what I think heaven will be a little like.  It has taught us to stay close to one another, to be accountable to each other and to live an out loud life for Christ.
