Home Sweet Home...But Missing California

Howdy! We are back from a wonderful California trip celebrating Will's graduation. It was at time of great fellowship and seeing God's incredible scenery. I am going to start with our pictures from Yosemite today and then the next few days post the pictures from San Francisco and from San Diego. I only took about 300 pictures! I promise not to post all of them. Great to be home and to sleep in our own beds. Hope your summer is going great!

Old hotel we stayed in on the way up to Yosemite. Established in 1851. We stayed in the room that President Roosevelt stayed in a long time ago. It was very cool.

Going back to Yosemite brought back so many good memories of the Yosemite Family Encampment. We attended that encampment for many years and it was such a blessing to us all. Yosemite is my number one on the most beautiful places in the world list. Of course I have a lot of lovely places to see yet...and will obviously never see it all but Yosemite will probably always be my number one. Thank you God for this beauty. So easy it's embarrassing! Here it is: One box of Betty Crocker Red Velvet Cake mix. 1 semi sweet choc. chips 1 small Half and Half- (use half a cup) 1small carton of whipping cream 1 package of cream cheese Half cup sugar Bake cake (follow box directions), let cool and crumble. Stir together cream cheese, sugar and whipping cream with blender until smooth. Melt chocolate chips in bowl and then add half and half. Stir until smooth. Layer in trifle dish. Mom's Apricot Cobbler...

It is melt in your mouth good! Ok, I know that yesterday I wrote about not eating any more sugar and I'm not. This is for YOU. I just had to give you Mom's recipe. It is so easy and so incredibly yummy. Hope that you enjoy it. It smells heavenly while cooking too. Easy Apricot Cobbler Jan McCoy 1 cup flour 1 cup sugar 2 Tbs. Baking Powder (Mix well in mixing bowl) Add 1 cup Milk and about a third cup of oil Mix well. Pour in oblong Pyrex cake pan. Heat at least 1 quart of sweetened fruit (apricots) to boiling. Pour on top of the batter. Add dollop (don't you love the word dollop?) of butter and sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes until brown. Enjoy. Camp Blue Haven-2012

Mountains green, sparkling streams, every morning you greet me. Pine trees tall, waterfalls, blue skies canopied o'er me. May I know as I live and grow, God forsakes me never. May His love from above bless Blue Haven forever.  And what a blessing it was this summer to be back up in the cool mountains with so many people that we love.  As I reflected on this special place I thought about how big of an influence it has been on our children and our hearts.  At camp time slows down. There are so few distractions. The focus is on fellowship, enjoying God's creation and growing in knowledge of Him.  It has been a place to teach us what our life in this world should be about. It has also been a glimpse of what I think heaven will be a little like.  It has taught us to stay close to one another, to be accountable to each other and to live an out loud life for Christ.
