Blue Hydrangeas and Yummy Homemade Granola

Image
This lovely hydrangea bush is huge and lives in our backyard. When we first moved into this home five months ago we thought it might be dead, it looked so horrible. We nursed it along and WOW...it is one gorgeous bush now. Blue hydrangeas. God is amazing. "Thank you Father for the beauty in this flower and for making it so lovely that we would woo and ahh over it." The prettiest color of blue I have ever seen. On to foodie things: This Yummy granola recipe my sister-in-law gave me is addicting and wonderful. Sid cannot live without it and so I have to keep it as a staple item in this kitchen. He loves to put vanilla or strawberry yogurt in a bowl and top it with the granola and eat it for breakfast or a snack. Good stuff and pretty healthy too! Recipe below. Enjoy! Homemade Granola 4 cups old-fashioned rolled oats 2 cups sweetened shredded coconut 2 cups sliced almonds 3/4 cup olive oil 1/2 cup good honey 1 1/2 cups small diced dried apricots 1 cup dried cherries 1 cup dri

Quiet Christian Service...

I just had to share an email I received this morning from Mom. It is from a lady that we went with a few years ago on a medical mission trip to Zambia. She has gone for many years and has a great love for the lost and and Zambians. Shelli has worked on the spiritual team for the medical mission for many years. This email is her thoughts on the Christian man below and the impact he had on people for the Lord. It is a beautiful tribute and as a Christian it makes my heart yearn to be more like him...and more like Jesus. I took this image of Joseph in '07... I love it. And of course, ... I couldn't help but write a few words about him. You know, there have been some very difficult issues to deal with as the spiritual team on ZMM ... trying to work together as brothers and sisters of different cultures and sexes (and those two factors themselves are actually issues) ..but searching out the truth of God's will in complicated issues of culture and tradition. Being a rather "

New camera! Yippee! I have looked for weeks for the right camera and bought one yesterday. Not sure yet if it is just perfect but, it seems pretty good so far. Pictures below. What do you think? This is the sprinkler running in our neighbor's yard. Just thought it looked so pretty and just screams summertime! New member of the family...Meow. So cute, so fun, so silly. We love her. Truly, I am not or have not been a cat person. I am allergic to them (have to be careful) but have kind of fallen in love with this crazy cat. Sid, working in the yard. That man loves watching the grass grow. He also loves his job! Gorgeous eyes of my youngest son. Hazel eyes. What a sweetheart. Well...a man. sigh... Kitty Meow is so funny, she's always having fun, everything is a plaything, whether snow or rain or sun, she chases all the bugs, and next doors dove, she doesn't want to eat them, just to give them a love! Her affection is endless, a constant noisy purr, she always wants to play m

Shout it out! We love Jesus!

Good Saturday Morning!

Can't wait to stand right here in a few weeks! New Mexico mountains...here we come! The birds are chirping and it is already really warm this morning. Summer sure feels like it is here. With one more week of school there are oodles of things going on. We decorate at church this morning for the Senior banquet tomorrow night. Hawaiian theme... with smoked pig and all. Should be a good time. Tonight is the final scrimmage for Wes in his three weeks of spring football. I have been busy getting graduation gifts out and trying to get Will ready for his summer of work in the mountains. We will need to help him get packed this afternoon. He will leave tomorrow for the long drive up. We are also working on getting some painting done in the church and updating the kitchen and youth room. By the end of summer it should have a good face lift. So...I will be back to regular blogging sometime...sometime. Next week I think. Blessings.

Do you Pray with your spouse?

This was my facebook question yesterday. Just thought you might find the answers interesting and I hope they bless you like they did me. (Names of friends were deleted to protect the innocent. :) Do you guys pray everyday with your husband or wife? Just wondering. I wish we did...used to, but have gotten out of the habit? do you? Also...my husband doesn't feel as comfortable praying together as I do. I learned through the His Needs/Her Needs class that its not uncommon for men to feel that way. most of the time - unless we fall asleep first. As a woman, it makes me feel so protected when my husband asks me what he can pray for, and then prays specifically for that thing. Then he follows up on it days later to see how that specific thing is going... Amy, I feel compelled to add my two cents even though I'm not married anymore....I certainly relate to these other comments, especially the one about guys not feeling comfortable praying with their wife. Having said that, I am convin

Stars...Switchfoot

Maybe I've been the problem Maybe I'm the one to blame But even when I turn it off and blame myself The outcome feels the same I've been thinking maybe I've been partly cloudy Maybe I'm the chance of rain And maybe I'm overcast And maybe all my luck's washed down the drain I've been thinking 'bout everyone, Everyone you look so lonely But when I look at the stars When I look at the stars When I look at the stars, I see someone else When I look at the stars The stars, I feel like myself Stars looking at a planet Watching entropy and pain And maybe start to wonder How the chaos in our lives could pass as sane I've been thinking 'bout the meaning of resistance Of a hope beyond my own And suddenly the infinite and penitent Begin to look like home I've been thinking about everyone Everyone you looks so empty But when I look at the stars When I look at the stars When I look at the stars, I see someone else When I look at the stars The stars, I
