I Sure Will Miss Her...See You Tuesday...

Image
My Aunt Glenna died a few days ago. In the picture below she is the sweet lady with her arm around the Bear. (That is my Uncle Ed. I lovingly have called him the bear forever because he seemed so mean and bear like when I was young and then when I knew him better later he was a big lovin' bear that enjoyed teaching me to drink coffee and teasing me about just eating peanut butter...long story...) Anyway, I just love my Aunt Glen. She let me come out and live with her in Anaheim when I quit college after my sophomore year. She was patient and loving with me and I had the best time living in her house with Ricky my cousin from Bakersfield. So many memories... Fishing off the Balboa pier with her. She LOVED to fish. Fishing in lakes around Antlers, Okla. Standing on her little white fence in the front yard of her Calif. house and being just tall enough to see the Disneyland fireworks over the houses. Magical. Being amazed at how many different fruit trees were in her back yard. Hearin

36 Incredible Ways To Live Your Life...

Image
It is said, 'Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice.' The ones in different colors are ones I especially need to work on. 1. Pray 2. Go to bed on time. 3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed. 4. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health. 5. Delegate tasks to capable others. 6. Simplify and unclutter your life . 7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.) 8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places. 9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don't lump the hard things all together. 10. Take one day at a time. 11. Separate worries from concerns. If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety. If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it.

California Dreamin on a hot Texas day.

Good morning! Our little cool front is long gone but we are still happy to be in the 90's today instead of the hundreds! My cousin Rick Gibson posted this incredibly wonderful video on facebook this morning and it just made me long for California coolness. Thank you Rick! It is so refreshing! I have a very fond place in my heart for California and family that live there. My mom is from Bakersfield and every summer of my life while I was living at home we took a two week vacation to California. We visited all of the cousins and Disneyland and the beach. Such fond memories. Our family took a trip out to California last year for Will's senior trip. It was a blast and I added a few pictures from that wonderful trip below this video. We promised ourselves we would go back to the beach this summer but we could not make it happen. So...for now we are just California dreamin'. Blessings on your day being cool and lovely. If you are living in California, please enjoy the sweater wea

Dragon Football, Meet the Coaches & Teams

We feel the cold...well...cool front this morning! We are going to be under 100 today! Weird when 96 degrees sounds decent or even cool! I got out and walked this morning for the first time in months. I spent a lot of time praising the Lord for the cooler temps and breeze. Ahh... We had our meet the coaches and teams a few nights ago. It was fun and the band played and cheerleaders cheered and football boys chanted. School is underway and we are doing just fine. Here are a few pictures from last Monday night... Our new coach. Coach Ford. This picture kind of made us laugh. It does not take much to make us laugh! Welcome! Coach Ford! Pretty little cheerleaders and drill team Our sweet Wesley...is all grown up. sniff. sniff. The football team have some great chants to get help them get pumped up. Reminded us of "Remember the Titans." Very cool. Blessings on your day. Abiding love surrounds those who trust in the Lord. Ps. 32:10

School Days...

I woke up this morning to the sound of gentle rain. So nice. Two hummingbirds were flitting around our hummingbird feeder. They are just so cool to watch. It was a peaceful, tranquil moment before this getting ready for school morning started. Yep, summer is over! To tell you the truth, I am kind of glad to say goodbye to summer. Routine is always nice to get back into. Also, hopefully saying goodbye to summer will mean the temperature will cool down sometime soon too! Today it is supposed to be 101 degrees here in East Texas. So...think fall...think cool! We took Will to C. Station yesterday to check him into the dorm. It was crazy and fun and hot and a little overwhelming. He is living in a dorm that is going to be torn down next year. (That will be a good thing I think.) It was small and old and well...old, but boy did it look like fun for our college student. I pray it will be a great experience for him and that he will do well. He starts classes next Monday. This week is filled wi

Dog Days of Summer

Good morning! Life is moving at such a swift pace lately. Trying to keep my head above water and tread fast. I have not been able to gather my thoughts lately much to blog. Sorry. I am still fighting not feeling well and struggling to be able to do normal everyday things. I am just trusting that God has me in His hand and I know that everyday is a beautiful gift. Satan tries to terrify us with scary thoughts but our trust is in our Mighty God! This verse from my bible time this morning was encouraging: Psalm 119: 81- My soul faints with longing for Your salvation, but I have put my hope in Your word. 92- If Your law had not been my delight I would have perished in my affliction. 103- How sweet are Your words to my taste; sweeter than honey to my mouth. We have a pretty busy week coming up. Will and I are going to College Station today for his orientation Thurs. and Friday. Then come home for Wes' scrimmage on Friday night. We then take Will to A&M to check into the dorm on Tue.

One Last Trip to the Mountains...

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the good news that the God of Israel reigns! Isaiah 52:7 We made one last trip to New Mexico for the 7th session blessing. It was two days of work (cleaning camp) and praying with counselors and fun. I am so thankful for the counselors and staff that gave up their summer to teach kids about God and to spread His good news. Here are just a few more pictures of the cool...beautiful mountains and God's servants of the summer of 2010 at Camp Blue Haven. Blessings on your day. Amy The next few pictures are of a ranch that sits on the road not far from Blue Haven. It is a wonderful looking place and I love to see it every time we round that corner into that valley. Ah...lovely. Will and Ben being goofy as usual. Fake mustaches. Fun times... Beautiful girls Outdoor slide show on Friday night.
