Trip to the Farm

"Unforgotten"
by Laura Rae Becherer
Another year has come and gone
But unforgotten be the heart's song:
The rooster's early morning cry,
The faint streaks of light across the sky;
The twitter of the robin red-breast,
The wake-up call, "Mother knows best!"
The coffee all piping hot and steaming,
The youngest child still gently dreaming;
The sleepy mooing of the gentle cow,
The snuffling of the mother sow;
Dew drops upon blades of grass so green,
And gently clinging to the window screen;
A pie cooling upon the windowsill,
And a bird in a tree letting out a trill;
The clucking of the pecking hens,
And the geese honking in their pens;
The kittens tumbling about the shed,
And chores waiting for sleepy-heads;
The stillness of a brand new day,
The sweet scent of fresh spread hay;
The breeze gently rustling leaves,
And the swaying branches of the trees;
The sun beaming upon the farm,
With all it's chatter, noise, and charm;
God smiling serenely upon the scene,
Peaceful and hazy, the perfect daydream;
The shout of Father going to milk,
And Mother's soft touch, as smooth as silk;
Aye, 'tis true another year be gone,
But unforgotten remains thy heart- song.

Good morning! I was blessed this week to be able to go to my parents house and help them do a little cleaning out and cleaning up. I had a wonderful time! We threw a lot of stuff out and donated a lot of things and then did a make over of her old curtains in the living room, dining room and their bedroom. Fun times.
The curtain board after we took the old curtains down. We left the board and covered it with batting and then new material.
Mom and Dad's room with the old tiny mini blinds gone and new bright brick red curtains up. Love it.
View of the living room with new bright material up on the curtain board. It matches her couches better and is just crisp and clean looking.
The pictures below are shots of the farm. It was just so pretty out I could not resist snapping some pictures in between cleaning out rooms. "Thank you God for time spent on the farm with Mom and Dad and for having eyes to see the beauty you created."

The broom weed was out in all it's glory. SO lovely and bright yellow. Dad just laughed at me talking about how beautiful it was. It is just a weed to him! ha. Some florist should come out and harvest it. It would be glorious in flower arrangements.

Sugar. She looks fierce but will lick and love you to death.

The old cabin we used to spend a lot of time in. So many memories.
We spent some time in here too! ha. Frightening. Yes.

Yes, mesquite trees can be beautiful!

Blessings on the rest of your week! Amy

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise.

Beautiful...reminds me of my grandparents place near Belton! Yes, my Dad will laugh at me when I love what he calls "weeds"...he says I am trying to kill those!
Everything looks great and peaceful.

The cabin looks like it is about to fall down! I remember when ya'll were living there while ya'll were building the house. And the freezer that made a noise like a ? chicken??
Lots of memories at the farm. Thanks for sharing the pictures AND the memories.
Sure do love you & your family :)
Hugs & Blessings!

Wonderful photos - the grown mesquites look really nice although the smaller ones were just begging to get sprayed with Remedy mix! Found your blog from Diana's page. Just found hers today as well.

Happy fall to you!!!
