Church Youth Groups = Good Times!

Image
It was Time... For a party with good food... Lots of fun kids... Silly games... Plus...singing and talking about Jesus ... Youth group nights are awesome! Rejoice, and again I say Rejoice! Philippians 4: 4-7 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Blessings! Amy

My Husband...

Image
Sorry if I sound like I am bragging...I am a little I guess. I am thankful this morning for my husband. I have been blessed. I did not deserve such a Godly, wonderful man. He has always put our children and myself first in his life. He has worked on his doctorate now for years but has done it slowly and methodically so that it would not interfere with our family life. He has made sure that he is always there for our boys events...whatever they were or are. He does not loose his temper ever ...even though I have given him many reasons to do so over the years. He loves me even when I don't act right or look pretty or am sick. I'm not sure how I won this jackpot but,"Thank you Father God for this blessing." Come to think of it...he is the man that he is because he tries to walk like Jesus and tries to imitate His life. So...we are really second in his life. Jesus is first. I am sure that is why he is such a great father and husband. My husband...I love you dearly! May I

10 Minute Bible Study: Smelling Coffee Blog...

Image
My sweet sister-in-law Debra ran across this wonderful blog post on: http://smellingcoffeetoday.blogspot.com/ This inspirational blog post is written by: Jennifer Walker This is an excellent guide about how to incorporate at least 10 minutes of bible study time per day. Especially good for young mother's who are fighting finding time to be still and talk to God and learn from the Word for even a short time each day. I pray that these ideas will bless you. They were a blessing to me. Thank you Jennifer! How to start a daily Quiet Time Desperate to spend some time with Jesus this year, but not sure how to do it or where to start? An intimate fellowship with The Lord, time in His Word, soaking in what He has to say to you and responding to Him as if you are "best friends" is offered to each one of us. We just have to take the time to invest in our relationship with The Lord. Like building any friendship, it takes an investment of time, energy, and purpose. But friends, it is

Zucchini & Yellow Squash Casserole....Yum...

I am not really a fan of watching much TV. I like the HGTV shows and could become addicted to seeing makeovers of homes on that channel, but avoid watching too much for fear of giving in to my couch potato leanings. Anyway...Wes LOVES cooking shows and records them and comes home after school and watches them. Interesting. I was walking through the room a week or so ago and the Kitchen Boss was making this dish...we wrote it down and made it. WOW it is good! Wes will even eat squash prepared this way and it is easy. (He insists that he has to have Italian blood in him.) Zucchini and Yellow Squash Casserole by Buddy Valestro INGREDIENTS 2 each medium zucchini and yellow squash, approximately 2 pounds 1 teaspoon salt 1/4 cup sun dried tomato pesto 1 Tablespoon chopped oregano 1 Tablespoon chopped parsley 1/4 cup good olive oil 1‑2 large shallots, thinly sliced lengthwise, (I just use regular onions.) 1 cup Buddy's Breadcrumbs or bought and crunched up bread crumbs 1‑1/2 cups shredde

Beautiful full moons... Gorgeous sunsets... Road trips to this place... Because we get to see this boy... And this other boy, next year... Enjoying having this other boy right here though, right now. Blessings on this lovely Monday... Proverbs 10:8-9 The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin. The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out.

Because Nice Matters...

Image
I am not sure if this is a true story or not, but I hope it is. It is a good one... It Don't Cost "Nuthin'" to be Nice At a Touchdown Club meeting many years before his death, Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant told the following story: I had just been named the new head coach at Alabama and was off in my old car down in South Alabama recruiting a prospect who was supposed to have been a pretty good player and I was havin' trouble finding the place. Getting hungry I spied an old cinder block building with a small sign out front that simply said "Restaurant." I pull up, go in and every head in the place turns to stare at me. Seems I'm the only white fella in the place. But the food smelled good so I skip a table and go up to a cement bar and sit. A big ole man in a tee shirt and cap comes over and says, "What do you need?" I told him I needed lunch and what did they have today? He says, "You probably won't like it here, today we

Another Last...

Image
In the mornings after enjoying my Bible time I turn the computer on and open the blinds of this window. The view is quite lovely. Our backyard looks out into a few acres of undeveloped land. It is wild looking and I love it. I especially love the really tall pine tree you can see in the middle of the picture. As I looked out this morning I pondered on another last for our senior boy. I guess another last for us too, and I am feeling pretty sentimental about it all. Pictures of his last basketball game are below. It was a tough season as I stated a few days ago and we were ready for it to be over but now when I think about it...well...high school sports are now over for our family. Wow. Makes me think about all of the school lunches that I have made for our boys through the years. To tell you the awful truth...I used to dislike making lunches. Why? I don't know. Selfishness maybe. I have no idea. I guess it just got tedious through the years. Maybe it was the comments I heard somet

Real Heaven...

Image
This wonderful little book is written by Steve Hemphill . What do you see in your mind’s eye when you hear the word “heaven”? Do you see transparent people floating on clouds and playing harps? Or do you imagine a perpetual praise and worship service, singing “Holy, Holy, Holy” for all eternity? This often-promoted Christian view of eternity doesn’t even appeal to the saved—much less to the unsaved. But is this the true, biblical picture? Not even close. Possible scenario when entering heaven: (Angel)“You are about to take your first breath of heaven’s air. You will likely cough and gag as you did when you took your first earthly breath, but not for the same reason. The atmosphere of the shadow land (earth) is rank with the smell of sulfur, caused by sin, and the shame of mankind’s fall. It is so full of ugliness caused by the curse of sin that we are amazed you can breathe at all. When you cough and gag on your first heavenly breath, it is to remove the last of the stench caused by t

(Great without frosting too.) Enjoy... I pray that this Valentine's Day is finding you well and cheerful. I think for a lot of people Valentine's Day is not a particularly wonderful day depending on your circumstances. For you that feel left out or unloved or sad...may the joy of the Lord be your strength and your song. For too many years I have put too high of expectations on Valentine's Day. I guess that is just because I am a girl and there has always been so much hyp

Valentine's Candy...

Valentine's Mix Salted Large Peanuts (Planter's) Pink Candy Corn Pink M&M's (optional) Mix and Enjoy. WAY too good. My friend Denise first introduced us to this wonderful little snacking treat. It is addictive...so be careful. Adding the Valentine's pink candy corn would be a cute way to celebrate for Valentines if you need party candy. Scripture for today that jumped out at me was: Ps. 32: 7 You are my hiding place, You will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. 11 Rejoice and be glad, you righteous. Sing, all you who are upright in heart. I do have a bit of news today. Our oldest William found out a few days ago that he made the Aggie football team. We are so proud of him. Interesting days ahead. He will have to make it through spring practice without getting cut and find his spot, but we think he can do it. Won't it be fun going to games in Kyle Field and seeing young William on the sidelines and even playing! He will do it I ju
