A Mama's Heart...

A broken child. Scared and alone.

Last night my husband found this sad little baby dove in the yard.
It went from back yard to front limping and dragging a wing.
I stood and watched and wondered how to fix a broken wing on a little bird.
I wondered where her mama was.
I wondered if she would make it through the night without some stalking cat making a meal of her.
I tried to mother her. I tried to put her in a box but she would not let me.

I woke this morning and wondered what I would find. Feathers...
and breath gone or a baby still fighting for life.

I found a mama protecting and loving her child.
I am watching to see what happens in this bird saga of life and death and protection.
Will this mama protect no matter what? Will she fly when it becomes dangerous to stay and protect?
I think she will stay. I think she will stay no matter what.

You and I as Mother's of precious children will stay and stand no matter what.
Being a Mom brings the meaning of life into clear perspective.
We will do anything for our children.
Just like Jesus did what it took to save us.
He gave His life- just like this mama dove is going to give hers to try to save her child.
He gave His life so that we might live. Now and forever.

Psalm 91:1-5, 11&12, 14-16

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
14 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation. ”

Love this post...
Great post...Psalm 91, a favorite, almost a daily prayer for me and my family.

I am catching up on your posts. This one brought a tear to my eye, especially seeing the photo of the mama dove beside her baby, and seeing as how I am far from one of my 'babies' now, and feeling a little on edge from time to time. :)
