What Kind of Shoe Are You?...

I heard a great talk about shoes and our faith walk at the Encampment a week or so ago.
My sweet friend Kerri Jacobs gave this inspiring lesson.
She was a super speaker.
Thankful I was blessed to hear her talk about her faith.
(Forgive me Kerri if I word some of this different than you said it.)

House shoe faith:
If we have house shoe faith we stay  in where it is
safe and we don't really want to do anything.
We think that we have served our time
or we are afraid to step out in our faith.
We stay where it is safe and comfy.
We have to take courage and get out there out of our comfort zone.
Experience the blessing and thrill of being involved
and making a difference for the Kingdom.

Flats Faith:
We have a little bit of a lazy faith and we lack action or follow through.
We are out and about but are not really engaged.

James 2:14
What good is it, my brothers and sisters,
if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds?
Can such faith save them?

Do we lack action?
Flip Flop Faith:
Do we lead a double life?
Do we seem like one person at church and with church friends
and like another totally or somewhat different person
away from church and church friends?
Do we find it easy to set Jesus aside and just do what we want to do?
Do we find it hard to stand up for God no matter what?

James 1:2-8 &12
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,
whenever you face trials of many kinds,
3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be
mature and complete, not lacking anything.
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God,
who gives generously to all without finding fault,
and it will be given to you.
6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt,
because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea,
blown and tossed by the wind.
7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because,
having stood the test, that person will receive
the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

Running Shoe Faith:
This is a shoe I should put on daily.
If we have running shoe faith we take action and
we have follow through in our Christian life.
We are moving and involved in the lives of the people around us,
not just to be busy but to speak the name of Jesus
and to bless people with His good news.

James 2:18

18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.

We have to put our faith into action.

1 Cor. 9:24-25
24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run,
but only one gets the prize?
Run in such a way as to get the prize.
25 Everyone who competes in the games
goes into strict training.
They do it to get a crown that will not last,
but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

We need to be relentless in our Christian walk (run).
We need to finish strong.

I am peeling off my house shoes and will focus
on putting on my running shoes...everyday.
Join me?
Blessings! Amy
