Jesus IS The Gospel...

Our Wed. night class at church last night was so inspiring and wonderful. Our speaker talked about the fact that the Gospel is really not about Jesus. He is the gospel...the good news.  He made us think about the fact that if we are in love with Jesus, there is no where we would like to be that does not include Him.

Love these scriptures:
Psalm 73:24-26 &28
You guide me with your counsel,

and afterward you will take me into glory.

Whom have I in heaven but you?

And earth has nothing I desire besides you.

My flesh and my heart may fail,

but God is the strength of my heart

and my portion forever.

But as for me, it is good to be near God.

I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge;

I will tell of all your deeds.

It is football season. We get excited about football season. Why? It is fun and we (some people) study it and ponder it and dream about it. What if we pondered and studied and dreamed about Jesus and got to know Him as well as the things in our lives that we love so dearly?  I believe that when we put our whole hearts into knowing Him and staying in His word, He ignites our hearts. He makes the Word relevant to life.  He brings it all closer and makes it all real.

His word comes alive and with in our heart is planted an excitement and longing for our real home. I believe this because I know it to be true. I am the least smart and accomplished and worthy person on this earth and am so thankful for His saving. He has shown me Himself through His Word and through the Spirit.  He is salvation and hope for our hearts and souls.  I believe and He makes me worthy.   My prayer is that we dream and long for and dwell in His presence and word so much that everyday has a buzz and excitement for us that far exceeds our excitement over the things we love in life.

From Jesus Calling today:
The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you.
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.
Zeph. 3:17

We are talking about the God of the universe!
He is with me. He saves me. He delights in me. He quiets me with His love.
He will rejoice over me with singing.
I am in awe of the one and only God we serve.
Thank you Jesus for the saving.

Blessings! Amy

Yes, Jesus IS the good news. Your good article raises another question, do we preach the Bible or do we preach Jesus? We could merge the two thoughts together, but there is a difference. The Pharisees preached the Bible, but who did they miss (John 5:39-40)
