And Life Goes On...

Image
Warning- Sappy, sentimenal post. This will be interesting for my husband and mother and that might be about it. I ran across an envelope of old pictures last night. Sometime I just miss those precious early family days. Life was taxing and physically hard but so wonderful. As sweet as our boys were when they were little and as much as I cherish those days, nothing can compare to knowing these boys as men.  Nothing is better than watching your children grow and develop friendships and struggle into the men God desires them to be. The gentle giants at a recent Aggie game with their house mates. They are by the way- the best and most super housemates they could ask for. Thankful for you John and John Mark! The giants just being silly college students.  Will and friends in San Diego at the Stay Classy Awards.  I miss these days though.  What fun they were.  How did that cuddly, bear of a boy turn into this man? My how time flies.  Classic older brother taking care

Half Bath Awakening...

Image
We (as in me) are slowly starting to think about color and painting in our recently purchased house. I am a way over the top color person- well not over the top, but I just have to have color.  It is not a cosy warm home until there are cosy warm colors. I started on the half bath this past week. Do you know how hard it is to find the right color of yellow? Goldy yellow or orangy yellow or butter cream yellow.  I am calling it done for right now because I am tired of repainting it but it still needs some toning down/tweaking if you will. Maybe a light glaze/stain over the top.  We will see. I do know this, if you need to wake up, just come over to use our half bath. It is cheerful and very BRIGHT! And, yes, the rooster theme from the kitchen lives on. I don't know why. It just does.  Rustic red mirror is from Hobby Lobby. Half price score! Love it. I did realize that I am getting a little to old to tackle the big painting stuff. Having some help this week with the living/d

Secret Garden Spots...

Image
Don't you love to find new, lovely, peaceful and enchanting places to visit? God has been blessing me with new friendships. I took a drive out to this lovely whimsical place a few days ago with a couple of sweet women.  It had little garden areas and a wonderful little tea room with delicious food and yummy fall spiced tea.  Enchanting and restful. Isn't this fountain/waterfall wonderful?  New friends are a blessing. God is good. Aren't they beautiful? Proverbs 27: 6 &17 Wounds from a friend can be trusted. But an enemy kisses you many times. As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. Don't you love friends that are honest and real? One's that you don't have to guess what they are thinking or tip toe around with your words? How refreshing it is to find friends that you can be real with. Proverbs 17:17 A friend loves you all the time, and a brother helps in time of trouble. As we all strive to live like Jesus we become better

Love Our College Kids!...

Image
We had a blessed time today. Our boys came over for lunch and brought lots of friends. How fun it is to hear a bunch of great kids hanging around laughing and talking and sharing life. I love it. Thank you sweet girls for washing up! Cousins unite!  Two.Precious. People.  What a gorgeous group of girls! As pretty inside as out. May the rest of your Sunday be wonderful. I think a little nap is on my schedule.  Blessings! Amy

Fantastic Fall Wreath...

Image
Well, if I do say so myself. For me anyway. This is the one I really wanted. It is at Hobby Lobby for around $99.00. I think it was 40 percent off but I still did not want to spend that kind of money on a wreath. I know. Penny pincher. Yes. So, I bought a five dollar grapevine wreath and made my own with silk flowers that were 40 percent off. I spent right at $20.00 but I really love it. I am so ready for fall. It is still pretty warm here even though we had a nice little cool front come through yesterday. I feel that fall is on the way! I am sure my little happy wreath will make it hurry up.  Oh, this beautiful guy wanted to say howdy! Blessings on your Saturday! Amy

Our Baby...The Hair Saga...

Image
His brother's take on his long hair: Some say when it is long he looks like Fabio. (Had to look up who that was...the butter guy I think or he is on the front of romance novels of some sort) Headband? ehh...nice fish though. He can even manage the cowboy look with this hair. He came over a few nights ago and said he was tired of it and so we cut it off.  We all like this handsome short haircut. Love this boy no matter how he wears his hair. End of the hair saga for now. I'm sure there will be another chapter. :)

A Little Too Late? There Is Hope...

Image
Show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths; guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long. Psalm 25:4-5 It breaks my heart. I hear the sorrow in words of men and women who are in the sunset of their lives and have now grown into a closer relationship with God.   They realize that they didn't understand the importance of  discipling their children as they were growing up.  They wonder if they will reach their children for the Lord now that they are grown. They say their grown children now have no relationship with our God, and regret that they did not lead their children to put God first in everything.  I certainly do not have the right or perfect answers for this because we are still parenting but my heart cries out to try to think about it. My thoughts run this way: The church is not your child's parent. You can't expect for them to know Jesus by just having them in bible class and worship one ti

9-11 Don't Forget

Image
Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day? Out in the yard with your wife and children Working on some stage in LA Did you stand there in shock at the site of That black smoke rising against that blue sky Did you shout out in anger In fear for your neighbor Or did you just sit down and cry Did you weep for the children Who lost their dear loved ones And pray for the ones who don't know Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble And sob for the ones left below Did you burst out in pride For the red white and blue The heroes who died just doing what they do Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer And look at yourself to what really matters I'm just a singer of simple songs I'm not a real political man I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you The difference in Iraq and Iran But I know Jesus and I talk to God And I remember this from when I was young Faith hope and love are some good things

Veggies!!

Image
We did it! We got out in this wonderful for veggies suffocating heat and planted a fall garden.  This is new to us and we have really no idea what we are doing.  The excitement is running high though and we are hoping to be eating yummy tomatoes and broccoli and cabbage and other good things, oh...peppers too in a few months. We are thinking we will just be able to water it and it will grow. We will see. As one of my sweet blogger friends said, "Try it and keep trying it when it fails and keep trying again and again." Ha! Hoping it goes well the first try.  Special words to encourage today: Ps. 19 :1 & 2- The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech and night after night they display knowledge. Ps. 19 :7-11- May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in Your sight O Lord- my Rock and my Redeemer! Blessings on your day! Amy
