Aggie Ring Day...

Howdy! We had an incredible day yesterday experiencing the Aggie Ring tradition. I am not an Aggie but have enjoyed learning all of the wonderful Aggie traditions.  This one was especially fun because our oldest gentle giant recieved his ring yesterday.  You can get a ring when you are in your junior year of college here at Texas A&M. I had no idea what a big deal it was. This fuzzy picture below shows the mass of people and celebration of families during an Aggie Ring Day.  It was a fun time that we were blessed to share with Will and five of his friends.

Every big event needs a fun party to celebrate...
My precious friend Shana makes beautiful cakes. She made a seven hour drive down to our house to bring us this beauty. (Well, I have to be fair and say she was coming anyway...but that is sweet friendship- don't you think?) Check out her website if you are in the Texas Panhandle and need catoring or cakes.

I loved hanging twinkly lights and decorating with candles...
 It was the perfect night...
So, the ring dunk tradition is actually in my opinion pretty silly. The story is that way back guys would get their Aggie rings and go to a bar and put them in the bottom of a picture of beer and drink it all to get the ring out. Who would think of such a thing? Strange. Anyway, I am sure that still happens but now it seems everyone does it for a celebration but lots just use their favorite drink to dunk in. As you can see there were all kinds of colorful drinks at this ring dunk. Gatorade, tea and cream soda.  None of these kiddos are drinkers. Praise the Lord! So...it was just a fun challenge to drink to the bottom to see who could get to their new ring first. Like I said, strange, but it was a fun party. :)
Will won and the girls nearly got sick but they did it.
So, this group of friends had a fun day of Aggie tradition.
They love their school and I can see why. We love it too but love all of them more.

Blessings on your weekend! Amy
