Birds and Cows...

Happy Sunday afternoon! 
I hope you have been able to enjoy a nap in the cool air conditioning or by a pool somewhere. I pray for people that don't have the comfort of air conditioning on a day like this. Whew. Central Texas in the summer. Hot. Hot. Hot. 

A few quotes from our preacher this morning. He was speaking about laziness or being a sluggard.

Good things don't just happen. 
They require effort and hard work. Prov. 15:19

The remedy for laziness is diligence. Prov. 12:24

Work with your hands, win respect, support yourself.

We have recently moved to a different house (boy was that a lot of work) and it has taken weeks for any birds to find our well, my bird feeders. (My husband is not at all attached to birds like I am.) Finally a few weeks ago I lured them in with some cranberry flavored seed. 
Our granddaughter loves seeing them. They are really beautiful. 
 A week or so ago I realized that a wren had built a nest in our front door wreath. I have no idea how she can stand the door being opened and closed so much but so far she is hanging in there. 
 Yesterday we saw these little beauties.

This guy is nuts. For about 2 weeks he has sat on this branch and then flown directly into our big picture window in the back yard. Over and over and over. Weird. Doesn't he look crazy? 
Maybe he has knocked some sense into that pretty red head of his. 

On a quick trip to my papa's ranch a week or so ago we drove around and saw so many precious new little calves. I love this picture.

So easy it's embarrassing! Here it is: One box of Betty Crocker Red Velvet Cake mix. 1 semi sweet choc. chips 1 small Half and Half- (use half a cup) 1small carton of whipping cream 1 package of cream cheese Half cup sugar Bake cake (follow box directions), let cool and crumble. Stir together cream cheese, sugar and whipping cream with blender until smooth. Melt chocolate chips in bowl and then add half and half. Stir until smooth. Layer in trifle dish. Mom's Apricot Cobbler...

It is melt in your mouth good! Ok, I know that yesterday I wrote about not eating any more sugar and I'm not. This is for YOU. I just had to give you Mom's recipe. It is so easy and so incredibly yummy. Hope that you enjoy it. It smells heavenly while cooking too. Easy Apricot Cobbler Jan McCoy 1 cup flour 1 cup sugar 2 Tbs. Baking Powder (Mix well in mixing bowl) Add 1 cup Milk and about a third cup of oil Mix well. Pour in oblong Pyrex cake pan. Heat at least 1 quart of sweetened fruit (apricots) to boiling. Pour on top of the batter. Add dollop (don't you love the word dollop?) of butter and sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes until brown. Enjoy. Camp Blue Haven-2012

Mountains green, sparkling streams, every morning you greet me. Pine trees tall, waterfalls, blue skies canopied o'er me. May I know as I live and grow, God forsakes me never. May His love from above bless Blue Haven forever.  And what a blessing it was this summer to be back up in the cool mountains with so many people that we love.  As I reflected on this special place I thought about how big of an influence it has been on our children and our hearts.  At camp time slows down. There are so few distractions. The focus is on fellowship, enjoying God's creation and growing in knowledge of Him.  It has been a place to teach us what our life in this world should be about. It has also been a glimpse of what I think heaven will be a little like.  It has taught us to stay close to one another, to be accountable to each other and to live an out loud life for Christ.
