We Love You Mom...

Image
"Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her: "Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all." Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the Lord, She shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, And let her own works praise her in the gates. Proverbs 31:25~31 Sid and his Mom JoAnn My Mom Jan and my brother Brad and I MOTHER'S LOVE Her love is like an island In life's ocean, vast and wide, A peaceful, quiet shelter From the wind, and rain and tide. 'Tis bound on the north by Hope, By Patience on the west, By tender Counsel on the south, And on the east by Rest Above it like a beacon light Shine faith, and truth, and prayer; And through the changing scenes of...

Wish I Was A Squirrel...

Image
Just for today when my list is so long and I am so beat. So many things not finished and it will be a late night. Just for today I wish I was a squirrel. Eating and playing and digging in the yard. Not a care in the world. I am mesmerized by the hummingbirds that are coming to our feeder. When things are crazy and so busy sometimes I just stop to sit at my kitchen table and watch these fascinating little birds. They are remarkable and God is so wonderful to delight us with these tiny little creatures. They are a great reminder for me to slow down and look around and see God in nature. To slow down and take a deep breath and to be thankful. Blessings on your busy day...gotta GO! Amy

Dump Day and National Day of Prayer...

Image
My friend Trey Morgan along with Bread for a Hungry World raised over $35,000 yesterday to help feed the people that have to go to this dump and dig around for food to eat. This is in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. In this rough economy and hard time God's people still give and love and provide for people in need. I am thankful. Go check out Trey's blog. You will be inspired. http://treymorgan.net/ Also: Today is the National Day of Prayer! A Mighty Fortress Is Our God "I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." Ps. 91:2 Why We Pray As American troops stormed the beaches of Normandy, President Franklin Roosevelt called for our nation to unite in prayer. He also offered a prayer to prepare each citizen for the road ahead. “Let our hearts be stout, to wait out the long travail, to bear sorrows that may come, to impart our courage unto our sons wheresoever they may be. And, O Lord, give us faith. Give us faith in Thee.” The victory that fo...

Purity...

Image
We are having a girl's retreat this weekend on Purity. I have been working on a lesson about purity from a biblical point of view. I asked our oldest son to give me some of his thoughts on it. Here is his short email and thoughts. I thought it was inspirational. Girls would rather listen to what a guy has to say about God and purity than what a middle aged Mom has to say about purity. Right? :) Psalm 119:9-11 How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to Your word. I seek You with all my heart; do not let me stray from Your commands. I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You. I am looking for a girl who loves God more than me at all times in our relationship, wherever we are. I am looking for a girl who knows her bible. Girls, how important is it to find the perfect guy RIGHT now, or how important is it to "please" that sweet and handsome young man right now? How important is it in the long run, in the big scheme of things? How i...

Blue Bell & B and B...

Image
We had a lovely time last weekend in Brenham, Texas. We rested and walked and ate... (Blue Bell mostly, with a good steak thrown in there on Sat. night). We stayed in this old house called The Far View Inn. Kind of old and spooky and cool. The pictures are not so great because it was overcast all weekend except for several seconds of sunshine every now and then Nice cozy room We were up early even on a day we did not have to be. That is what happens as you get older I think. We both got a cup of coffee and were enjoying our daily bibles when the sun shot through the door for a few seconds. Of course I always have my camera with me so I could not resist this shot. Wes drew this wonderful little picture one day in church a long time ago. I keep it in my bible as marker. Reminds me that he loves Jesus. Warms my heart. Living room Landing at the top of the stairs. Pretty. Dining Room Coffee anyone? Blue Bell Creamery... Pure yummy goodness. One dollar a cup. Can't beat that. This ...
