Ladies Retreating!

Image
We are back from a fun weekend in the New Mexico mountains. We had our ladies retreat at a friend's cabin up by Blue Haven Youth Camp. There were 18 ladies. We celebrated Tammy's birthday, slept outside with the bears, drank lots of coffee, buzzed around and up to Johnson's Mesa on 4 wheelers, zipped and swung and climbed on the ropes course, gave and received foot rubs, played games, ate great brisket, went for walks, had a good devo., napped, cried, read, killed spiders, laughed and worshiped together. It is great to be with women of all ages with time to get to know each other, learn from one another and enjoy each other's company. Here are a few pictures of our adventures and fun. Our group of ladies on the deck after worship. Kristi trying to fit through the net. :) Tammy and I The net. Low ropes course. Zip line fun. Candace and Wayland. Two sweet people that I wish I knew better. Wayland was the facilitator on the tower of the ropes course. Casey and Way

Wow...you just can't beat a West Texas evening. We had our meet the football players night at the stadium last night. The temperature was so pleasant and we had a huge rainbow over us for a few minutes. It was beautiful. Hope that your day is a good one! My scriptures for today are: Ps. 14:2- The Lord looks down from heaven on the sons of men, to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. Prov. 27: 17 and 19- 17-As iron sharpens iron so one man sharpens another. 19-as water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the man. It has been on my mind for a few days that I need to seek God...in a better way or more. I need to slow down and take more time than I normally do to drink from the well of His word. To seek Him . I am a much more pleasant and loving a person when I take time to dwell in His presence, to learn more from His word and to listen. Wes and his good friends Taylor and Jacob What a handsome young man! Our sweet little pony girl. Kaylee, Jacob's

These stubborn 15 pounds have GOT to go. I was able to banish them from this body last year as we were getting ready to go on the family 50th anniversary cruise but...they have reappeared. Too much vacation eating that lasted all summer! Anyway, heading out to walk...and am going to stay on W. Watchers until these extra pounds are melted away! This fluffyness is going to be gone FOR GOOD, let's see, by... Christmas. That is a decent, realistic goal, don't you think? I think I will log my progress every Tue. because that is my weigh in day at WW. This should help me stay on hopefully. :) So... talk about this again next Tue. Getting my rear, out the door and in gear! My feet going out the door for a fast walk! Our crape myrtle bush. Beautiful color this morning. Wes- first day of his Junior year. Not quite ready to smile. So random, but I love these wall hangings I picked up at Hobby Lobby. What a great store. First day of school happy, banana muffins. I would really like to t

Wes...Stang football begins.

We had our 2nd scrimmage last night in Midland. Wes did good. He was tripped up in the picture above or might have had a touchdown. We were rained out pretty quickly right after this play. He has grown so much that he is beginning to look a little like Will out there. Will had a scrimmage last night too. He is enjoying all of the freshmen being there and meeting a lot of people (girls). :) Great scripture for this lovely Saturday: I lift my hands to You in prayer. As a dry land needs rain, I thirst for You. Ps. 143: 6 Blessings on your day. Let's make it a great one. Amy

Socialism...Not being politically correct...

Amen. This email was sent to me this morning from my father- in- law. I thought that it kind of summed up our government situation and the Healthcare Reform Bill. Let me get this straight..... Obama's health care plan will be written by a committee whose head says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it, signed by a president who smokes, funded by a treasury chief who did not pay his taxes, overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that is nearly broke. What could possibly go wrong?

Long List... only 4 days until school starts!

Will and his roomate Dylan. What fun those two are going to have! Hey! Happy Thursday to everyone! Lots of things on my list for today. I am being thankful that I am feeling better this morning. My thyroid meds have been really low and the doc bumped them up and I am feeling alive again. Praise the Lord. Thought there for a few weeks that I might be going to slowly die a painful death. Well...maybe I am exaggerating a bit, but not much. Will has been at school for nearly two weeks practicing with the football team. His roomate and suitemates move in today and he is really excited about it. Wish that I could be there and see it all and visit with the Mama's but Sid said it was too early to go back and see Will. grr.....ANYWAY, I pray that this day is fun and a blessing for our boy. I also pray that he will be a blessing to those around him. That he will glorify God in all that he says and does. Blessings, Will! List: Get camera fixed, mail box to Will with extra cell phone in it (do

Monday Musings

Image
Good Monday morning! This post will be the most random of thoughts that I have ever typed up. Good luck! Scripture for this morning: Ps. 8: 1- Oh Lord our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! The sermon our preacher gave yesterday was "Happiness Is A Choice" Boy did I need to hear some of the things that were said. Some thoughts: Happiness is independent of possessions. Happiness is contentment in whatever circumstance we are in. I can choose to be happy... 1. Accept where you are... 2. Develop an inner strength through God (My blessings outnumber my problems...count them I dare you!) 3. Develop an attitude of adventure 4. Learn to like people...invest in people Romans 12:9-13 (New Living Translation) 9 Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. 10 Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. 11 Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. 12 Rejoi

A Child's View of Thunderstorms

Image
My Father-in-law Bob Walker sent me this email and I loved it: A Child's View of Thunderstorms...... A little girl walked to and from school daily. Though the weather that morning was questionable and clouds were forming, she made her daily trek to the primary school. As the afternoon progressed, the winds whipped up, along with lightning. The mother of the little girl felt concerned that her daughter would be frightened as she walked home from school and she feared the electrical storm might harm her child. Full of concern, the mother quickly Got into her car and drove Along the route to her child's school. As she did, she saw her little girl walking along At each flash of lightning, the child would stop, look up, and smile. Another and another flash of lighting followed quickly and with each, the little girl would look at the streak of light and smile. When the mother's car drew up beside the child, she lowered the window and called to her 'What are you doing?' T
