One Answer Matters. Jesus Loves You.

Our oldest boy is up at Camp Blue Haven this summer working as a counselor. We are thankful he wanted to spend his summer helping campers see God more clearly. It is a very demanding very tiring job with very little sleep and having to be mentally and emotionally ON all of the time. This letter is from one of the girl counselors there at camp this summer. She posted it on her blog. I thought is was so wonderful. I agree Amy...The love of the Father demonstrated in Jesus is so much bigger than any of the burdens these kids bring to camp. We have a reason to sing. To dance. To laugh. Jesus is stronger. Sin is broken. He has saved us. He loves us. A Reason to Laugh...Amy Ellis Three weeks at camp. I've gone into town twice for Wal-Mart and Sonic. Other than that, my days have been full of the chaos that accompanies getting 200 campers to all do the same thing. My days seem to run together. Get 12 girls to get out of bed. Outside to be alone with God in the stillness of mountain mornin...

To Africa...

Image
About six years ago our boys and I went on a trip to Zambia with my Mom and Dad and a big group from Abilene. Today, this team is leaving again for Africa to bless and help the people in Zambia. My sister-in-law Shawna and her son McKinnon are going this year. Also, Molly and Debbie McCoy are going back this year. This team goes into the bush to give medical care and to spread the word of God to the Zambian people. What a great blessing this mission trip was to our family. Will's heart was really changed and moved toward wanting his life work to be on the mission field. We will see how it all unfolds. How fun it is too watch our children grow and move closer to God and finding their paths. I am so thankful God blessed us to have this experience. Gorgeous African sunset Friendly, happy children... Wes, working with a Zambian nurse. Dipping fingers in ink for identification and to show that people have come through the medical clinic. Will and some other kids helping to teach a chi...

The Land of Enchantment...New Mexico

We have been blessed to attend the Red River Family Encampment the past 20 years. I can't say enough about how family church camps and Christian youth camps have impacted our children and our family. We have made wonderful friends and had great times of spiritual renewal and family reunion time at the RR Encampment. In the early years of our marriage I am sure that we would not have been able to afford this vacation but were so blessed to have a place to stay because of being asked to sing on the program. I am thankful for that and for Dad always picking up the food tab (plus a lot of other tabs) and taking care of us. We watched our children grow up at this encampment and it has been a blessing. Thank you Father God for inspiring and blessing this Encampment to bring people closer to You. The massive "tent" where we meet by the river. Lot's of people heading to their favorite Bible class. The High Plains Children's Home gives away sausage wraps on Sunday and M...

Happy 4th!

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. And to the republic for which it stands... one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. "O, say! can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? "And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there. O say! does that Star-Spangled Banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

I meditate on all Your works and consider what Your hands have done. I spread out my hands to You; my soul thirsts for You like a parched land Ps . 143:5&6 We are settling in after a long adventure in New Mexico. Camp Blue Haven and the time we have spent there have been a great blessing in our children's lives and for us as adults. It is hard to describe the experience that you have up there. The mountains are beautiful and the people are good hearted. God's presence is strong and it is a time of spiritual renewal. Sunday morning worship in the barn. Sid with his brother Bill and kids. It is always great to see them on Sunday morning of first session . Silly songs on the first night. Love it. Only at camp can you be this silly and no one thinks you are weird. I think we should all be just as silly whenever we want too Sann man singing the conductor song. He just might be the best one yet! This is John Mark's cabin of young men.
