The Creator...

Image
We are studying a book called "ABC's of a Godly Heart" in our ladies Bible class. The lesson this week was refreshing. We talked alot about our Creator. I love this scripture from our lesson: Isaiah 40:26,28a- "Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these?  He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them by name.  Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing...Do you not know? Have you not heard?  The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth."  The author's thoughts: Rainbows and sunsets and flowers and birds, are supposed to lift our eyes to the throne room of the Beautiful One. God built a landscape on which we could meet and be friends. Psalm 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.  Day after day they pour forth speech, night after night they display knowledge. All we have to do is pay attention and marvel...

Old Fashioned...Godly Parenting...

Great words from my sweet friend Laura...please go to her blog and check out her thougths... http://laurakurk.com/ What, I wonder, happened to the Marmees of the literary world? Marmee, the mother in Little Women, capably held her family together while her husband fought in the Civil War. She had trouble finding enough food and keeping them clothed, but she never played the victim and she continued to be the moral compass for the family. Where are the dads like Atticus who stood for something and were respected and loved by their children? They’re among us, aren’t they? They are your parents and my parents, if we’re blessed with Godly ones. They are the truth that’s better than fiction. They’re the ones who, despite all the distractions of this world, know when to put “things” away and focus on relationships. Sure, it’s entertaining and revealing to watch young adult characters being strong and independent and making it without an ounce of help from their parents. But tuck away...

What the Bible Is...Tutorial...

"Introduction to a New Testament Pocket Bible" The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler's map, the pilgrim's staff, the pilot's compass, the soldier's sword, and the Christians charter. Here Paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed. Christ is the grand subject , our good design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given to you in life, will be opened at the judgement, and be ...

All In A Day...

Hi! I went to see my kiddos yesterday and went to a suprise party for our oldest. What a blessing to be there to see the boys with their friends and get to have a peek into their lives. They have THE BEST brother's and sister's in Christ.  By the way...the picture above is of a gorgeous barn that is on the road home and I have always wanted to stop and photograph it. Since I was by myself this morning and it was lovely outside and sunny, I just stopped and clicked a few and admired the beauty. Ahh... Speaking of Will...he introduced me to Switchfoot years ago and I just downloaded their new album, "Vice Verses."  It is powerful and moving and I love it.  I know, an old person like me should not be into rockin music but I just can't help myself. The words to their songs just move me and they touch on the heart of what I feel about Jesus most of the time and the urgency to tell the story and to live out loud. Thank you Jon Foreman for letting ...

Our oldest boy turns 21 this week. Amazing how you see and feel a deeper level or different kind of love when you have children.  Thank you Will for loving the Lord above all else.  You are a blessing to us. Psalm 127: 3-5 Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. 3 John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. This scripture was on his birth announcement... Our children are good and perfect gifts from above...I pray we teach them to love the Lord and prepare them to go back to Him at the end of their lives. 1 James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. Blessings on your day. It is cool and sunny here. Wonderful Autumn morning! Amy
