I'm Dreaming Of A White Christmas...It Came True!!

I think it has been at least 20 years since we have actually had a white Christmas. I could not get my pictures to load so I put one on that looks like our snow this morning. It started snowing at about two in the morning and just stopped right now at 2:30pm in the afternoon. We lost power this morning at 6:00am and it just now came back on.

It was pretty funny how all of us coffee drinkers were figuring out how in the world to make coffee without electricity. We boiled water on the fire...etc. You can imagine. It was quite hilarious. We take alot of comforts for granted let me just say.

Anyway, one good thing is when all the heat you have is one fireplace everyone stays right together in a 15 foot area. There was lots of good conversation and laughter, book reading, game playing and napping. No tv or anything electric going on. It was very fun and enjoyable.

Blessings on your Christmas Eve. We are loving our White Christmas... where the tree tops glisten and children listen to hear sleigh bells in the snow...

Sounds like you got to enjoy part of "our world"! Living without some of the things we take for granted often brings us closer together.

So easy it's embarrassing! Here it is: One box of Betty Crocker Red Velvet Cake mix. 1 semi sweet choc. chips 1 small Half and Half- (use half a cup) 1small carton of whipping cream 1 package of cream cheese Half cup sugar Bake cake (follow box directions), let cool and crumble. Stir together cream cheese, sugar and whipping cream with blender until smooth. Melt chocolate chips in bowl and then add half and half. Stir until smooth. Layer in trifle dish. Mom's Apricot Cobbler...

It is melt in your mouth good! Ok, I know that yesterday I wrote about not eating any more sugar and I'm not. This is for YOU. I just had to give you Mom's recipe. It is so easy and so incredibly yummy. Hope that you enjoy it. It smells heavenly while cooking too. Easy Apricot Cobbler Jan McCoy 1 cup flour 1 cup sugar 2 Tbs. Baking Powder (Mix well in mixing bowl) Add 1 cup Milk and about a third cup of oil Mix well. Pour in oblong Pyrex cake pan. Heat at least 1 quart of sweetened fruit (apricots) to boiling. Pour on top of the batter. Add dollop (don't you love the word dollop?) of butter and sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes until brown. Enjoy. Camp Blue Haven-2012

Mountains green, sparkling streams, every morning you greet me. Pine trees tall, waterfalls, blue skies canopied o'er me. May I know as I live and grow, God forsakes me never. May His love from above bless Blue Haven forever.  And what a blessing it was this summer to be back up in the cool mountains with so many people that we love.  As I reflected on this special place I thought about how big of an influence it has been on our children and our hearts.  At camp time slows down. There are so few distractions. The focus is on fellowship, enjoying God's creation and growing in knowledge of Him.  It has been a place to teach us what our life in this world should be about.
