Nov. 1st! Bring on Thanksgiving!!

So excited about November! Absolutely one of my favorite months of the year. I am not really a fan of Halloween and am always glad when it is over, but here are a few shots of our church Halloween skating party last night. These were just too funny not to share. I am sure Sid will kill me for this! Sorry honey.

As I was saying...November. Countdown to Thanksgiving. Wonderful.

Loved our lesson in worship yesterday morning.
It was called "Paying Attention to God".
Here are some thoughts that I wrote down while listening:

Am I a blessing?

What am I doing that will help build the kind of world that God has in mind?

Am I one of the good guys?

Live the moments as sacred. As if they were the last moments.

Amos 8:11 (New Living Translation)

11 “The time is surely coming,” says the Sovereign Lord,
“when I will send a famine on the land—
not a famine of bread or water
but of hearing the words of the Lord.

Are we in a famine...the kind written about in Amos?
Are we not diligent enough in speaking the word of God?

1 Peter 4:7-11

The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers.
Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay.

God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.

Eph. 4:29
Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
It is easy to say that this verse is just about not using bad language and it is about that. But more importantly taking it a step further, it speaks to using our words for encouragement and helping people.
I know I need to practice looking for the good in people and not automatically the bad.

Redeem the time!

Live each moment as if it were your last.

The moments are not ours anyway.
They are God's moments on loan to us.
Blessings on our beautiful November 1st Monday! Amy
