The Blessings of a Flower

Image
I love this scripture: It gives me comfort and warmth in my heart. In the morning, O Lord, You hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before You and wait in expectation. Psalm 5: 3 The picture above is of my one huge sunflower that came up in my flower bed. I planted about 5 of them and only one came up, but I am so thankful for that one flower. It has brought me great joy. It is just so cheerful. Thank you God for this flower. Below is a story that my Mom sent me this morning. It really touched me and I wanted to share it. Have a blessed day! MAGNOLIAS..........By Edna Ellison I spent the week before my daughter's June wedding running last-minute trips to the caterer, florist, tuxedo shop, and the church about forty miles away. As happy as I was that Patsy was marrying a good Christian young man, I felt laden with responsibilities as I watched my budget dwindle.... So many details, so many bills, and so little time. My son Jack was away at college, but he said he would be...

Bunko Craziness

Bunko last night with the crazy ladies from my church. My friend had the idea to have a Prom Dress Bunko party. It was in fact quite hilarious and fun. We did not have prom where I went to high school so I had to go to Goodwill to find a dress. (Assuming of course that if we had had a prom and I could still fit into the dress, that I would have worn it...whatever.) Jan and Ky were here so they Goodwilled it also and came with me. Laughter is good and being with sweet, fun friends is good. Blessings on your day!

Harding U...

Good morning! We moved Will into the dorm with help from about 20 Harding football players. Boy, was that an impressive show of love from them! Thanks guys! Below is a picture of his dorm room. He sounds great on the phone and is busy learning the football ropes. Sid and I shed a few tears on the way home and some yesterday but over all we are doing great. (I am pretending most of the time he is away at summer camp!) ha. I am such a baby. Really though, we are doing fine and are so excited for him. Hope that your last few weeks of summer are wonderful! School supplies are everywhere and we are working on getting Wes ready for his junior year. Blessings on your day and let's glorify the Father in all we do! Love, Amy

One More Day...Being Sappy

How did this happen so quickly? In the blink of an eye... We are choosing to be thankful and joyful...minute by minute. Praise the Lord! For He has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust Him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. Psalm 28: 6-7

Hmm....too much to say...

Howdy! Goodness. I don't think I have ever gone this long without blogging. We have been on a mission trip to Albuquerque and then immediately went to Graham for football camp for Wes and Will helped to work it. Now, we have 3 days until Will leaves for college. Truthfully, I have put off showing or feeling any emotion about this fateful event this whole past year. Now, with three days left I feel like my heart is going to break. Don't worry Mom, I am going to be ok, but right now...I have so many words I would like to type and things to say but my brain is scrambled at best and I am struggling to just handle these emotions. I am so excited for him and all that lies before him, but his departure will leave a large six foot six hole in all of our hearts. I promise to blog about our mission trip and trip to Graham and other things about our summer but for now just know I love you all and I cherish your prayers for us and all the other families that are going through saying goodby...

Mission Trip...Lukewarm?

Image
I am reading the book "Crazy Love" by Frances Chan and man, chapter 5 about being a lukewarm Christian is beating me up. But, it is good to be reminded and get a clear picture of what I am and of what I should be. Wes and I are leaving for Albuquerque on his Youth Mission trip today. Will is leaving in about 19 days for school and mentioned last night that he thought he might need to go a little early. Ugh...excuse me? After I stomped around and threw a little fit, I calmed down and slept on the idea. I will try to be open minded but, this is painful. Anyway, thoughts below...lukewarm... When we want God and a bunch of other stuff, then that means we have thorns in our soil. A relationship with God simply cannot grow when money, sins, activities, favorite sports teams, addictions, or commitments are piled on top of it. Has your relationship with God actually changed the way you live? Do you see evidence of God's kingdom in your life? Or are you choking it out slowly by s...
