Nice Day...

Just a quick post then we are off to a SUPER BOWL super party. It has been a very busy, wild few days. With basketball, dissertation work (Sid), baking and cooking, exercise, hair cuts, etc. We were blessed to be able to host a coffee and fellowship time before church this morning. It was fun having time to actually visit a little bit with our brother's and sister's before class and worship. Wonderful thoughts from worship last Sunday... Holy Adventure... Cows are creatures of habit. They follow each other on cow trails. We like our routines, just like cows, and we follow the same trails and follow behind other people. We need to get off the path and be spiritually creative. Ask for help from God to step out of our comfortable lives and our ruts and have Holy Adventure in our lives. We get a little nervous and fearful when we step out of our routine. Hebrews 11:8 It was by faith Abraham obeyed God's call to go to another place God promised to give him. He left his own coun...

Red Bird...

Psalm 104:10-13 You make springs pour water into the ravines, so streams gush down from the mountains. They provide water for all the animals, and the wild donkeys quench their thirst. The birds nest beside the streams and sing among the branches of the trees. You send rain on the mountains from your heavenly home, and you fill the earth with the fruit of your labor. Psalm 51:7-12 Take away my sin, and I will be clean. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Make me hear sounds of joy and gladness; let the bones you crushed be happy again. Turn your face from my sins and wipe out all my guilt. Create in me a pure heart, God, and make my spirit right again. Do not send me away from you or take your Holy Spirit away from me. Give me back the joy of your salvation. Keep me strong by giving me a willing spirit.

Valentines, Rye Grass and Basketball...

Image
Good morning!! Awesome verse from the Daily Bible today: Psalm 27: 1 The Lord is my light and my salvation- whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life- of whom shall I be afraid? Brrr....still very cold this morning. Sunny but cold. This Valentines blip is goofy and I am banking on the fact that our boys don't normally read my blog. I have always loved to give our little family fun small Valentines gifts. Yes, they are silly but hey, it is the girl in me coming out. They don't get sentimental at all about these yearly Valentines gifts but I like to think that deep down they love it. My Mom always gave us a little box of those assorted chocolates on Valentines morning with breakfast. It was such a fun treat and made us feel special. I was in Wally world yesterday (mainly because the electricity went out at home and I was turning into a frozen person) and I could not believe the amount of Valentines stuff for sale. So, since I was in a warm place I took my time pick...

West Texas Snow...

Image
We are shivering here in East Texas with only rain while our folks in West Texas got this beautiful snow...lucky!! Job 38: 22-30 “Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail, which I reserve for times of trouble, for days of war and battle? What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed, or the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth? Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain, and a path for the thunderstorm, to water a land where no one lives, an uninhabited desert, to satisfy a desolate wasteland and make it sprout with grass? Does the rain have a father? Who fathers the drops of dew? From whose womb comes the ice? Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens when the waters become hard as stone, when the surface of the deep is frozen? Also...this is cool...Will talked a little with Gov. Perry at an Aggie basketball game a few nights ago. My father in law took this picture. Sweet. Thought for the day courtesy of...

Foggy...Dreaming of Spring...

Image
Good morning! This is what we are seeing today, even just after noon. The fog is hanging on. I am having trouble feeling very motivated to do much of anything today. This is the kind of day I really could just curl up with a good book under a blanket and read hours away. But...there is too much to be done. Laundry, grocery shopping, projects...etc. I need a swift kick in the pants... I long for...flowers and warm temps. We need some sunshine for flowers and since "THE STORM OF THE CENTURY", or so they say is on the way, I guess I will have to wait a bit longer. The temperature is going to drop forty or so degrees tomorrow. If the Weather Channel is right. Brrr... Thinking of a good soup recipe and making sure we have enough wood for three days of cheery fires to warm the room and the soul. Sounds good. I want to introduce you to some sweet friends of mine. These wonderful ladies live in West Texas and I miss them. They will be forever locked in my heart and cherished. Shana...
