Ah...the memories

Image
It's 6:00am on graduation day and I am up making strawberry cake and pumpkin muffins. The sun is coming up and I am being a little sentimental. It has been a really busy week and that is good. We have some family coming in today for graduation and it will be a great time. I am just hoping that I can keep it together and not cry (too much). Will does not want me to break down and so I have to be composed. ha. He may just have to understand. Anyway, here are a few pictures that I just wanted to share this morning. I did not have any older pictures on my computer and so I just took some pictures of old pictures and put them on. They are really horrible quality, but hey, I don't much care. They are sweet. Blessings on your day and a big hug to all of the other parents that are cheering their children on at graduations today! God is so good. William D. Walker All grown up. With the cousins and Red River. Hello? DaddyHollis and Will. How was he sleeping? Jan and Will and I. ...

Little Thoughts

Image
Have you seen the movie "Australia"? It is very moving and well, really quite wonderful. I love the little boy that plays Nullah. The line that he uses several times in the movie is, "I will sing you to me." So touching. With Will going away in the fall it was especially moving to me. Even more important is the thought that God will sing us to Him. I know of no verse that says that exactly but it was a thought I had as I watched this movie. I guess this is the verse that I was thinking of: Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing." We have not had time to watch movies very often, and this one has it's share of words that I don't like to hear and a small sex scene. But, is a very good one compared to so many million other sorry ones. I hope that you get a chance to see it. It is long...

Week of Banquets and Memorial Day

Image
Thinking toward Monday and Memorial Day, I wanted to play this video. I love it. (You will have to pause the music track to hear it.) Let's all remember and say a prayer for the men and women that fight for our freedom to worship and live in this country. We need to never forget all of the people who have given their lives for us. Even more importantly let's remember that this country was established by men that based our constitution and values on the word of God. "Please Father God move our hearts to speak for You, to stand for You, to love for You and to tell this hurting world of your precious Son." School awards program Athletic Banquet and sweet friends We love you Coach Hanna. The Sophs., cutting up and having fun Blessings on your upcoming week. It is going to be busy and emotional one but a good one. This is Will's favorite scripture: Romans 13: 11-12 And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, ...

Regional Track Meet

Image
Sun, lots of talented high school track stars, staying in a cool hotel...(well, with what seemed like over a thousand other high school track stars), lots of coffee and green citrus tea, laughter with friends, good food, and so much more. It was a fun two days. Will got third in the high jump. Lost out on going to state by two misses. Oh well, he is looking forward to college and is ok. Only 5 days of school left. Should go fast because there is so much to do. Here is a little verse my Mom sent me this morning... "Mother's Covers" When you were small and just a touch away, I covered you with blankets against the cold night air. But, now that you are grown and out of reach I fold my hands and cover you with prayer. Blessings on all of you other mother's that are drying tears each day anticipating graduation. Cry and be thankful and smile! That is what I keep telling myself. Please continue to keep Sierra in your prayers. She is hanging on and is in hospice care. Pray f...

Psalm 62...My Soul Finds Rest in God Alone

Image
Good morning. Will gave a talk yesterday at church and spoke from Psalm 62: 5-8 & 11-12. It was good. Here are the verses. They are beautiful and reassuring. Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God ; He is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge. One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that You, O God, are strong, and that You, O Lord, are loving. Surely you will reward each person according to what he has done. Sat. night was prom. Will got prom king. Woo Hoo. It was kind of sweet. But...we are going to pray and maybe bribe Wes not to go his next two years. You know that feeling when you walk into a place where it is just dark? I don't mean the lighting necessarily either. It is when it seems like the atmosphere is in conflict with the Spirit of God l...

Little Road Trip..Windmills, Cats, Songs and Home

Image
Howdy! It is a HOT, beautiful day here. I just drove back in town from taking a little road trip home to do some gospel recording with my family. It was really nice to get in the car and drive for hours while turning up the radio and singing as loud as I wanted to. I love the lovely west Texas landscape. Most people would say it is desolate and ugly, but well...I love it. I drive through it thinking of days past with Indians on the tops of the hills and what that sunset would have looked like from the back of a horse. I think I might have been born in the wrong time. Anyway, we had a great time singing and God really blessed our recording time. Mom has two or three really wonderful new songs that we put on the CD. So pretty. I will let the rest of the pictures and remarks show you what else I got to do. The picture above is of an old town in between where I live and home. It has brick streets. I love brick streets. I got off my road and drove down it just because it was cool. Lovely....

Sierra...please pray.

Image
Please pray for this sweet young lady named Sierra. Her mom was one of my best friends in high school. Sierra found out she had cancer in her knee and after several months of trying to treat it she had to have her leg and knee amputated. She has been on different types of chemotherapy and has been doing pretty good. I learned that a few days ago she was taken to the hospital because she had pneumonia. I got a call this morning that she is being flown to Houston this afternoon to a hospital there and is not doing too good. I covet your prayers for the sweet Christian young lady and her mom Lisa and family. I pray that she will have many more years on this earth to honor and give glory to God. Thank you for your prayers. Sierra is second from the left in this picture.

Academic Banquet

Image
It was a fun night. We sat with our friends and laughed and William got a Who's Who award and a few others. These pictures are mostly of our sweet girls from church. They are precious, beautiful young ladies. I am thankful for how they live their lives in honor of our loving God. Blessings on your day. Oh...I had a great cry today. Just let go and cried. It felt good. Our children are going to be fine. After all, they are children of God and He loves them more than we do.
