Prayer Group...


My sweet Mom and these close friends of hers have been enjoying a Prayer Group for years and years.  They have blessed their children and grand children's lives and have been there for each other through thick and thin.  I want to point you toward her article on the "Word For Today" blog about their prayer time together.  I hope it will encourage us all to form special prayer time with our sisters. What a great example! I 'm anxious to spend more time reading her blog since I know what a lovely daughter she has! I don't have a prayer group, but a Bible Study group that formed when we were newly married. After 28 years we still get together for vacations every other year, even tho we are spread across 3 states. The highlight of our vacations is worshipping together. Everyone needs support and how beautiful is God's model for the church!

Amy - I knew you were a member of the church! My daughter attends the GSCC at times and sometimes goes with her boyfriend. She's in nursing school. Small world, huh? We go to Shiloh Rd in Tyler. You can email me if you ever want to visit!

I remember the first time I spied the book "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe." It was in the library at Taylor Elementary School and I was in the sixth grade. The cover looked interesting and I fell in love with the fantasy and beauty of it. At the time I had no idea that the story was a loosely telling of the story of Jesus and morals and living by the truth of God.  I can't count the times I have read it sense then for myself, for the love of it and for our boys and now our grandchildren. Mom's Apricot Cobbler...

It is melt in your mouth good! Ok, I know that yesterday I wrote about not eating any more sugar and I'm not. This is for YOU. I just had to give you Mom's recipe. It is so easy and so incredibly yummy. Hope that you enjoy it. It smells heavenly while cooking too. Easy Apricot Cobbler Jan McCoy 1 cup flour 1 cup sugar 2 Tbs. Baking Powder (Mix well in mixing bowl) Add 1 cup Milk and about a third cup of oil Mix well. Pour in oblong Pyrex cake pan. Heat at least 1 quart of sweetened fruit (apricots) to boiling. Pour on top of the batter. Add dollop (don't you love the word dollop?) of butter and sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes until brown. Enjoy. Red Velvet Trifle...

So easy it's embarrassing! Here it is: One box of Betty Crocker Red Velvet Cake mix. 1 semi sweet choc. chips 1 small Half and Half- (use half a cup) 1small carton of whipping cream 1 package of cream cheese Half cup sugar Bake cake (follow box directions), let cool and crumble. Stir together cream cheese, sugar and whipping cream with blender until smooth. Melt chocolate chips in bowl and then add half and half. Stir until smooth. Layer in trifle dish. Enjoy.  Alaska memories. Love this fat Santa above. Thrilled with how this little wreath turned out. Happy Christmas decorating! Remember: Your family probably does not care if your house looks like something out of Southern Living. They love the traditions and old ornaments and chipped Christmas mugs and plates.
