CBH 2019

The best week of the year and especially of the summer has come and gone again so very fast.  Having the blessing and privilege to be a teacher at CBH another summer is so special to us. A little bit of heaven on earth.  The fact is that our kids having been campers for many summers and then counselors and now teachers and camp photographers has been spiritually life changing and molding and beautiful. (Also, our oldest met his wife there so that is for sure a great blessing.) We are so thankful.  Choosing to send your kids to Christian camps and especially this one is a decision that we as parents will never regret and I will always and forever give praise to God for the opportunity.

We had a special group of campers in our class this summer. They love each other well, and even though they struggle with the hard things of life, they have warrior hearts and I know that they will live for Him and bring other people to heaven with them.

Below is part of a letter of encouragement being sent soon to our campers.
I had the thought that it might encourage all of us.
I know I need to be reminded of these things maybe daily. I think we all do.

A couple of things we want to encourage you to do.

First, please get in touch with the person you mentioned about being your mentor. Some of you named people that have passed on so for you please pray and ask God to help you think of someone you look up to spiritually to ask to be your mentor.  Be intentional about it. Ask them to touch base with you once a week even if that is just a phone call. If they live close meet in person.  We all have a great need for accountability and a close friend to share with and ask life questions. Think of that person that you believe walks with Jesus closely and lives out their faith. Glue yourself to them for a while. GROW.

Secondly and maybe even more important is to encourage you to open your bible daily and dig in. I guess in a way I am asking you to make God your mentor first.  Make it a priority. Get up 30 minutes earlier than you normally do and read His Word.  Make an appointment with God. He will meet you there. Sacrifice time in your schedule for Him. I believe He will honor that.  If you need a plan then go out and buy a One Year Bible and just jump in and start on the day you are in. The daily reading plan takes only 15 minutes or so to read and then get a blank journal and write any scripture that made you think or that you feel is important.  Then, get on your knees and pray about it and give your day to Jesus. It may be work at first but DO NOT STOP. The Word will come alive and you will think He wrote it just for you!  I promise if you will do just those things God will become more and more real than you could ever imagine.  You know how we look forward to early Christian worship on Thurs. nights at camp? We walk through the catacomb pathway into the barn with great expectation that something wonderful and moving is going to happen in there and…it does. That is how I want you to approach your Bible reading time. I dare you. He will not leave you dry and wanting. The Word will come alive. It IS alive. Pray for understanding and for God to move you to read what you need to see.

Ephesians 1: 2-3
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Christ, God has given us every spiritual blessing in the heavenly world.
Ephesians 1:16-23
I have not stopped giving thanks to God for you. I always remember you in my prayers, 17 asking the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, to give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you will know him better. 18 I pray also that you will have greater understanding in your heart so you will know the hope to which he has called us and that you will know how rich and glorious are the blessings God has promised his holy people. 19 And you will know that God’s power is very great for us who believe. That power is the same as the great strength 20 God used to raise Christ from the dead and put him at his right side in the heavenly world. 21 God has put Christ over all rulers, authorities, powers, and kings, not only in this world but also in the next. 22 God put everything under his power and made him the head over everything for the church, 23 which is Christ’s body. The church is filled with Christ, and Christ fills everything in every way.

 Blessings! Amy
