Colt: Pro Day...Great Job!

Image
McCoy shows off arm to scouts after injury By JIM VERTUNO (AP) – 21 minutes ago AUSTIN, Texas — Short passes, deep passes and everything in between. Colt McCoy hit them all. The former Texas quarterback showed off his healed right shoulder for NFL scouts for the first time on Wednesday, completing all 46 of his passes in a controlled workout. "I've been waiting for this day a long time," he said. "I thought I went out there and killed it today." The All-American won an NCAA record 45 games as a starter at Texas, but was knocked out of last season's BCS championship game against Alabama on the Longhorns' first drive. A hard tackle pinched a nerve and caused his throwing arm to go numb. He did not need surgery, just time to rest and rehab. McCoy said he's been patient to make sure he didn't come back from injury too soon. He said he wanted to throw at the NFL combine but didn't on doctor's orders. His shoulder was declared 100 percent about

Pollen Alert.

Image
Wouldn't it be fun to live on Lazy Daisy Lane? When the Weather Channel says that the pollen count is high in your area...they are not kidding. I am thankful for Alavert. A little pollen anyone? :) Oh well, if we have to have pollen around to have this kind of beauty, it's ok with me! Isn't this dogwood gorgeous? Lovely. Beautiful day. Beautiful tulips. Thank you Lord. Blessings on your day. Amy

Run Forrest Run!

Image
Sid has been training for a run in Tyler for a few months. It was a 10k and 2 mile run. Sid ran and I walked the two mile. I could not believe how many people participated. Ten years ago when we lived in East Texas he ran in this 10k. I remember that Mom was visiting and we took the boys over to watch him run. Will was 9 years old and Wes was 6. The azaleas were all blooming that year. The run is down winding, brick streets with beautiful old houses. This year it has been unusually cold and so the azaleas are not out yet but it was still very beautiful. We had a great time. He was shooting to just make it under an hour because he is just getting started running again. He made it and I am proud of him! I just walked and took pictures and enjoyed all of the fun going on around me. Nice day. Starting line. There were just as many people behind us as there were in front of us. Long line of runners. Sid is up there somewhere. He said he was about to die right here! I had to take a pictur

Hope...C.S. Lewis

C.S. Lewis wrote: Hope is one of the Theological virtues. This means that a continual looking forward to the eternal world is not (as some modern people think) a form of escapism or wishful thinking, but one of the things a Christian is meant to do. It does not mean that we are to leave the present world as it is. If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were just those who thought most of the next. The Apostles themselves, who set on foot the conversion of the Roman Empire, the great men who built up the Middle Ages, the English Evangelicals who abolished the Slave Trade, all left their mark on Earth, precisely because their minds were occupied with Heaven. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this. Aim at Heaven and you will get earth ‘thrown in’: aim at earth and you will get neither. The Holy Spirit can give us that "something more." He can restore

Runnin Around...

I was blessed on Monday to be able to travel to Dallas to watch Brad and Debra accept an award for Colt for College Christian Athlete of the Year. The banquet was wonderful with hundreds of high school athletes proclaiming what Jesus means to them. Very inspiring. The picture below is of Mom and Dad, Brad and Debra with Chris Christian (Smith) and his beautiful wife. (The song that is playing is his song from 1977- Mountain Top.) He is the singer/producer that really started Christian music by producing Amy Grant back when she got started.) We used to sing his song "Love Em While You Can". Awesome to see him and visit with him. Didn't they look handsome and beautiful? Brad also spoke the next morning at the Dallas Men's annual Prayer Breakfast. He did a great job and it was also a very inspirational morning. There are alot of serious, praying Christians out there. I witnessed it over the past few days. I am thankful I had the opportunity to be there. Mom and Dad an

God is in control...

Hebrews 5:14-16 "Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are---yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace in our time of need." Hebrews 13:5-6 "....because God has said "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you; So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" Hebrews 13:14 "For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come!" "The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of Heaven and Earth! The Lake...nice spring break day.

Image
It was warm enough to sit in the sun for a few hours yesterday out at the lake. What a lovely place. Great day. Good company, warm temps, good food, fishing and fellowship. It is predicted to be back into the low 30's tonight so we really appreciated that warm day yesterday. I guess we will be covering up all of the lovely plants we put in the ground a few days ago. The fishermen and woman. God sure used a vivid, beautiful color of green on these ducks heads. Wow. Gorgeous place. Cuties. Avid fisherman Wes Yum. Friends. Scott and Danna Sweet kids. Having fun. Blessings on your Saturday. Don't' forget to keep calling the White House! (See yesterday's post, please.)

Don't read this if you like people to be politically correct.

I feel a real need to talk about this today. I know that it is not cool to talk about political things in most circles but I am so very concerned about this Health Care Bill that the President is determined to make a vote on, on this Sunday. Actually they really don't even want to take a vote, they just want to push it through in what I believe is a fraudulent way. I am just afraid that down the road our children and grandchildren will ask us why we did not put up more of a fight than we did when all of this was happening. And yes, call me crazy, but I believe this is all a spiritual battle as well as a political battle. I will not expound on that right now but to me it truly is spiritual. I am asking you to pray for this bill's defeat and to let our voices be heard in Washington. Prov. 18:5- It is not good to be partial to the wicked or to deprive the innocent of justice. Prov. 18:10: The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and are safe. This is from t

The Plant Nursery

Image
We visited an incredible plant nursery yesterday. I had to talk Wes and Sid into coming with me. When we drove up and they saw it Wes said, "It is a plant haven!" and Sid said, "Wow, this is unbelievable!" To me it looked like a plant fairyland. It was several acres of all kinds of plants and flowers and trees. We had a great time picking out flowers and walking through the plants. We then came home and planted and pulled weeds and enjoyed the sunshine. The nursery lady did say, "Watch the weather, it might come close to freezing on Sat.!" We will be covering up these precious finds if it gets too cold. Wes is working on building a rabbit cage and today we will use our borrowed tiller (thanks Scott) to break up the garden ground. I can't wait to get started on the veggie garden. I am thankful for the little bit of extra yard we have with this house. Wonderful. We are even gonna plant strawberries! Woo hoo!!! I hope and pray that your spring break time

Old Houses and Porches...Love Em

Image
The Point of Porches by Bill Price The Point of Porches is two-fold to hear and to be heard We sit and talk and rock away the hours with each word And in the quiet moments as dusk slides into dark the crickets chirp the evening song we hear a far off lark. There's nothing more serene than porches shared with friends in quiet conversations no beginnings and no ends So join us on the porch kick off your shoes and smile we're so glad you're here with us Let's sit and talk awhile. Lovely old homes in our beautiful town... Don't you love big, wide, shady porches? So yellowie cheerful. One of my favorite houses. Such a friendly house. Would love to live in one of these beauties. Another yellow lovely. Would love to live here and sip coffee on this front porch. ahh... Rocking chairs, lace curtains, screen door...I love it. Have a beautiful, blessed day. Let's take some time to sit on our porches and sit and talk a while. Love, Amy
